We Get Your teen Off the Couch and Outside
Don’t know what to do with your teenager this summer? WE DO! Camp Canaan’s summer programs for teens are designed to empower your teenager through activity and service. We have three great opportunities for your teen, each of which embrace the great outdoors and are filled with both physical and spiritual activities.
Your son or daughter may have a servant’s heart and enjoy working with our younger campers as part of our Counselor in Training program. Or maybe your adventuresome teen would rather face physical challenges in the wilderness as a participant in our action-packed Teen Leadership Camp program. As they get older, you may consider encouraging them to volunteer with our Assistant Counselor Program.
Our teen camp programs have different elements, but all options achieve great results! Leadership development is at the heart of all programs, as are the key fundamentals of discipleship, personal challenge, relationship development, discovering self-identity in Christ, spiritual, social and physical growth.
Whether living at Camp Canaan or trekking through the wilderness, we know your teen will return home inspired and enthusiastic about the next challenges in their lives.
Counselor in Training

Assistant Counselor
Canaan is thrilled to have an assistant counselor (AC) program during the summer! The AC program is offered for those who are ready to move on to the next step towards becoming a counselor. It is highly recommended that you complete a CIT session before doing the AC program. ACs will stay on property from Sunday afternoon until Friday evenings. Assistant Counselors are responsible for facilitating camper groups along with assigned counselor(s), maintaining the safety of others, and abiding by Canaan’s policies. ACs will stay in our cabin spaces, eat meals with campers and staff, and will be taught the gospel and how to share it with others!
TLC
Get off the couch and on the trail with us this summer on one of our premier adventure-based leadership journeys! Our outdoor leadership trips are an incredible opportunity for your son or daughter to be physically and spiritually challenged to grow in a community of fellow adventurers. This journey helps your child build character and self-identity while sharing their gifts and talents. Designed for campers ages 13-16.
Counselor in Training Program
Our CIT (Counselor in Training) program for teens near Charlotte, NC is an exhilarating leadership program that perfectly blends all the elements of camp life. CIT tasks include administrative jobs and maintenance around the camp to leading groups and playing games with our summer campers. Our Counselor in Training summer camp program provides your teen a hands-on opportunity to learn service and leadership while getting a true look into the working life of a summer camp. Designed for campers ages 15-16.
