Join the Canaan Team

Canaan’s mission is to provide outdoor experiences that encourage growth in faith, including a deeper relationship with Christ and others. We utilize fun and adventurous outdoor activities to share the gospel with campers. Our summer staff all live on our 100-acre island located in Rock Hill, SC. They participate in many outdoor adventure activities, such as our Zipline Canopy Tour, high ropes course, climbing tower, kayak trips down the Catawba River, and more! Camp Canaan facilitates unique opportunities to connect these adventure activities to God and his greatness. Many staff count their Canaan summers as some of the best of their life. Here people find community and build relationships that can last a lifetime!

At Canaan, campers learn about experiencing the joy, freedom, and safety that life with Christ offers. Our Summer Staff is the key element to accomplishing this mission!

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR

Counselors are the heart of Camp Canaan. Our counselors participate in adventure activities, swim, eat meals and even sleep in a cabin with their campers. We have structured our camp in order to provide maximum relationship-building opportunities between counselors and campers. Staff have the opportunity to truly pour into and begin to disciple our campers. This is ideal for a camp, ministry, or even education major. However, Canaan houses staff with all different majors and backgrounds, and to these staff, Canaan offers leadership and interpersonal skills that can be brought back to any field.

ADVENTURE GUIDE

Can you imagine spending your Summer soaring through the treetops or cruising down the Catawba River? If the answer is yes, consider becoming an Adventure Guide and sharing these awesome adventures with our campers! After an intensive 10-day training program, you will be an expert in all of our adventure areas: kayaking, zipline canopy tour, high adventure course, climbing tower, leap of faith, and giant swing. This role is fun, physical, and empowering. The skills you learn will serve you well in life and especially well in any outdoor industry career. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to help campers connect adventure activities with the Gospel.

As a Canopy Guide, you will be responsible for the safety of participants while you soar together from tree to tree over the Catawba River. Moreover, you will provide your zipliners with a dynamic, engaging, and memorable tour experience. You can make a difference by helping people conquer their fears and connect with nature and each other! This part-time job offers very flexible scheduling as well as further training opportunities which will allow you to advance into other adventure areas, such as the high adventure course and climbing tower.
