The Promise Fund Scholarship


The Camp Canaan Promise Fund Scholarship was created to help make summer camp possible for children who would otherwise not be able to experience life on The Island. We believe something amazing happens in the life of a camper who comes to Canaan and we don’t want anyone to miss out. Funds are raised throughout the year by donations from generous like-minded people and from our annual Fall Benefit.

Scholarship Program Overview

We offer campers ages 5-13 scholarships for one week of summer camp in either Junior Day Camp (ages 5-8), Senior Day Camp (ages 9-13), or Resident Camps (Journey (ages 8-9), All Girls (ages 10-13), and Co-ed (ages 10-13)).

If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, we want to make you aware of a few things about our scholarship process:

  • The amount(s) we offer are based on the poverty guidelines, income and number of people living in your household.
  • Depending on where you fall, scholarships cover anywhere from 50-75% of the full retail price of the session. The remaining portion is your responsibility to cover. (Full retail prices: $269 Junior Day Camp, $309 Senior Day Camp, and $549 for Resident Camps)
  • Families will only be awarded one session of camp per child, per season.
  • Specific spots (2 per Resident Camp, 2 per Junior and Senior Day Camp) are reserved for scholarship applicants in our registration system, which will not be released until the scholarships have been awarded.
  • No other discounts may be combined with a scholarship, such as a Sibling Discount.

Important Dates / Deadlines

  • Applications become available January 9.
  • All applications must be submitted by April 15.
  • Scholarships are awarded on April 30. You will be notified via email (email on application) of our committee’s decision.
  • You must register your child(ren) for the awarded session by May 10 to confirm acceptance of your scholarship.
  • Anyone NOT registered by May 10 automatically forfeits their scholarship and funds will be dispersed to another family.
  • Declined scholarships will be reallocated to families on the waitlist via email. Families will have until May 1 to register and accept the scholarship.

Financial Commitment from the Parent/Guardian

Should you choose to accept your awarded scholarship, you will enter into a financial agreement with Camp Canaan requiring the following:

  • You will have to use a debit/credit card.
  • At the time of registration you will be required to pay a non-refundable $25 deposit, which applies toward your portion of the tuition.
  • After deducting the scholarship and your deposit, your final balance will be due on June 1, 2017. We will automatically draft the card on file for the balance.
  • During registration, you must choose payment option number 3, which says, “Pay deposit now and then pay remaining balance by ONE auto-draft on June 1, 2017 (on card registered with).
  • It is your responsibility to check the amount you’ll be drafted prior to your June 1 auto-draft and contact us if you have any questions.
  • If your card is declined on June 1, 2017, you will have 48 hours to return our phone call or email us to update your card information or your scholarship will be considered forfeited.
