For this blog post, we thought it’d be fun to share some of the most popular items forgotten at Camp!

Top 10 Items Kids & Parents Forget for Camp:

  1. Sunscreen – While often times, parents don’t forget to pack sunscreen, kids rarely remember to bring it home! However, if you do forget to pack sunscreen, we’re sure we’ll have plenty of extra bottles laying around for you =)
  2. Water Bottles – We typically have 20-30 water bottles left over each summer if not more! We always encourage parents to write their campers name on the bottle to make it easier to find. Be sure to check your campers bag before heading home to make sure they didn’t forget their water bottle!
  3. Towels This is the #1 item forgotten at camp! Whether it’s left on the boat, at the pool, spraygrounds or the swimming hole, we always have bins full of towels at the end of summer camp.
  4. Change of Clothes – We highly recomend Day Camp Parents to pack an extra change of clothes for their campers. The reason for this is, some of our activities can get messy and it’s always nice to change in to a fresh change of clothes after said activities!
  5. Closed Toe Shoes – Many of our adventures required closed toe shoes including our Zipline Canopy Tour. Be sure to pack a pair with your camper each day!
  6. Canteen Money – Each day your camper is given the opportunity to visit our Canteen where they can purchase snacks and drinks. Many parents forget to add money to their campers account before arriving. We see parents typically add $10-$20 to their campers Canteen account.
  7. Enough Food for the Day – This one applies just for Day Campers. Trust us, your Resident Campers are getting plenty of food! For day campers we encourage parents to pack a lunch plus a couple snacks for the day.
  8. Pick Up Permission Form Names – If you plan on having somebody pick up your camper from camp that is not on your account, be sure to give us a call to add that individual to your account.
  9. Check Out Times – One phone call we often receive is in regards to Pickup & Drop-Off times. For Junior & Senior Day Camp, drop off is between 7:30-8:15 am and pick-up is between 4:30-5:30 pm Monday-Friday with a late stay option available until 6 p.m. for $25 for the week. All of our resident camp sessions (All Girls, Journey, and Co-ed) have drop off between 3-4 pm on Sunday’s and pick up is at 5:30 on Friday. These resident sessions all have a Closing Ceremony Friday from 6-6:30 pm.
  10. No Electronics – We like to say that Canaan is a Screen Free Summer Camp. This means, no phones, video games, computers etc… We’ve found that a technology free camp makes for a great summer camp!
