Summer Camp

We’ve received quite a few emails and calls asking, “What Does a Week at Canaan Look Like?!”. We’re so glad you asked! Below, Kole, our Day Camp Director and Elssy, our Resident Camp Director answer that question and also fill you in on some great changes for Summer Camp 2019.

Resident Camp

Welcome to Resident Camp 2019. Your camper is about to experience the best week(s) of their lives! I wanted to share some of the amazing changes for Resident Camp. Based on popular demand, we’ve decided to remove Morning Madness for Resident Campers and are allowing the campers to sleep in a bit longer and have more evening activities. A day of Resident Camp will consist of: breakfast at 7:45, followed by devotion / prayer & quiet time. After that, your campers will head to their adventure activities which may include: the high adventure course, a hike up Crowder’s Mountain, Kayaking, Ziplining and many more! These adventure activities will be selected upon arrival on Sunday.

After morning activities, your campers will enjoy an amazing lunch, followed by cabin time. Next, is every camper’s favorite: canteen time! After canteen your campers will head to afternoon adventure activities and then it’s off to the pool, river, or the lake. Dinner is next on the schedule which leads right in to our nightly speaker and worship. Lastly, will be our famous evening activities. Whether it be: game night, a dance party, mystery solving scavenger hunts or a Luau, your camper is going to have a blast! We’re super excited for Summer Camp 2019 and can’t wait to see you soon.

Day Camp

Day camp has some amazing changes I’d like share with you! Tribes will be a bit different this summer. Each Senior Day Camp Tribe will have 16 campers with 2 counselors making the camper-to-counselor ratio even lower than last summer. Also, tribes are assigned by the activities they choose upon arrival on Monday. To start the day, drop off times and Morning Madness will stay the same for both Senior Day Camp and Junior Day Camp. We encourage you to dress your Senior Day Camper in closed toed shoes as right after Morning Madness we move in to our adventure activities.

After lunch, it’s Free Time, Canaan style. On Monday, Senior Day Campers will choose what their afternoon activities will be. Some of these activities include: disc golf, archery tag, sharp shooting, tubing down the river, fishing, etc… Once the lake is completed, swimming will move from the river to the lake but we will still kayak on the river and we’ll also be adding tubing down the Catawba! Lastly, pickup time has changed for both Senior Day and Junior Day Camp and will begin at 4:30 pm and end at 5:30 pm if the late stay option was not chosen.

The Junior Day Camp Schedule has not changed from last year. Expect the same amazing themes, games and activities from last year!

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please contact us 803-327-6932 or email us at info@campcanaan.org
