Outdoor Adventures at Camp Canaan
We’ve been hosting adventure programs from our pristine 100-acre island in the Catawba River near Charlotte, NC since 2005. Camp Canaan Adventures range from soaring high above the river on our epic Zipline Canopy Tour and conquering our team-building ropes course, to a relaxing kayak paddle downstream and energizing games, like archery tag, bubble soccer, bazooka ball, and so much more. No experience necessary.

Zipline Canopy Tour
Minimum 75 lbs; max 265 lbs
Fly through the trees on a network of nine ziplines – six of which criss-cross the beautiful Catawba River – suspended high above the forest floor! On arrival, our friendly, professional guides will lead you through a brief training session, kit you out with equipment, and show you the ropes on some practice zips.
Kayaking
Ages 10+
Located on Sand Island, just south of the Lake Wylie Dam on the Catawba River, Camp Canaan is perfectly positioned to offer a low-intensity kayaking experience along one of the most scenic parts of the river system. Choose from a two- or a four-hour adventure, both led by our expert guides. Includes a ride back to camp!
High Ropes Course
Ages 9+
With names like “Disco” and “Pirates Crossing,” the elements of our high ropes adventure course are designed for adrenaline-pumping fun! Choose from several levels of difficulty along the way, including the option of exiting the course with the Leap of Faith or a 400 foot single zipline. Awesome for team-building!
Archery Tag®
Ages 10+
Archery Tag® is a genius combination of dodgeball, paintball, and archery! Using patented, foam-tipped arrows, Archery Tag delivers the high-energy fun of paintball without all the mess, marks, welts, and bruises – and Camp Canaan is the only place you can play! Great for parties, corporate events, and team building!
Team Building
Ages 9+
Whether your goal is to build communication and trust among business colleagues or inspire character development among students, we can custom-create a dynamic roster of activities for your specific group. Empower individuals to step out of their comfort zone, gain new perspectives, and grow!
Canaan Disc Golf Course
Ages 9+ | Saturdays & Sundays
Canaan Disc Golf Adventures offers two of the best courses in the country! Designed and provided by Innova Disc Golf, the Sandhills Course has 20 holes and the Riverbend Course features 20 holes with two sets of tees. Annual memberships and day passes available; includes parking and full access.
Catawba Tower
Ages 8+
Can you scale the 40-foot Catawba Tower climbing wall? There are three ways to get to the top: The Giant’s Ladder, and two Centipedes/Vertebrae. Suit up in a harness and commit to a path or try them all! Great for corporate events, school groups, birthday parties, youth groups, scout troops, and more.
Giant Swing
Ages 9+
This high ropes element is guaranteed to make your heart skip a beat! Your groupmates pull you up to 25 feet in the air and then ALL you have to do is pull the ripcord and swing! Your hard-won bravery instantly turns into elation.
Leap of Faith
Ages 9+
Ascend a 30-foot tall, one-foot wide pole, stand on top, and … when you’re ready … leap to the trapeze that seems just out of reach. If you feel like showing your stuff, try some pull-ups before letting go and being lowered safely by the belay team.
