Nick & Tiffany Wimmer

Founders

The vision for Camp Canaan started as a dream in the hearts of Nick and Tiffany Wimmer back in 2002. They both had served at several different camps in the US and abroad and knew that there was something amazing that came alive in them when they were outside in God’s creation with campers. They had never started a camp or run a business before, but with the help of local leaders, county officials, and with God’s guidance, they were able to found the non-profit and started to build out the infrastructure on the Island in the early 2000s. Nick served as the Executive Director for nearly ten years and Tiffany wore many hats during her time- from administrative assistant to hospitality coordinator. Their passion was in seeing the vision come to fruition, creating exciting programs and adventure elements, and most importantly, pouring into the lives of the staff and campers each year.
The Wimmer’s resigned from their positions in 2018 and felt God’s call to other vocations. They live in Rock Hill, SC with their four children: Kai, Finn, Henley, and Haven who all attend camp every summer. Tiffany stays busy homeschooling the kids, and you will usually find her digging in the garden or doing pottery on the wheel. Nick is currently a creative manager for a local communications company and loves writing and speaking at Canaan each summer for staff training and resident camp weeks. He is actively pursuing seminary work and ordination.
