Jonathan Burkhead

Jonathan came to Camp Canaan as an Adventure Guide in summer 2019 and stayed on year-round while he continued to study Business Management and Outdoor Leadership at Winthrop University. After graduating, he joined the Camp Canaan Crew full-time as Adventure Manager (aka Adventure Man, Man of Adventure).

In this role, he trains all incoming staff and interns in the safe facilitation of the Zipline Canopy Tours, High Adventure Course, Catawba Tower, Team Building, river kayaking, and other adventure programs, and ensures all programs run in accordance with Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) standards. Jonathan also coordinates and leads our annual wilderness backpacking program, Teen Leadership Camp (TLC), which includes activities such as rafting and caving.

To Jonathan, Camp Canaan is a land of opportunity where everyone can make new friends and  strengthen their faith. Jonathan is passionate about adventure programming and enjoys video games, spending time with friends, camping, and eating out.
