Nick & Tiffany Wimmer

God’s desire for Camp Canaan was spoken into existence when Nick and Tiffany Wimmer and property owners Aana Lisa and Jim Whatley agreed to develop a camp ministry on what is now known as The Island.

Nick and Tiffany had both served at camps in the US and abroad and knew that there was something amazing that came alive in them when they were outside in God’s creation with campers. Neither had started a camp or run a business before, but with the help of local leaders, county officials, and God’s guidance, they established the nonprofit, started to build out the infrastructure, and invited children and adults to share in God’s glory. Nick went on to serve as the Executive Director for nearly 10 years and Tiffany wore many hats during her time on The Island, from administrative assistant to hospitality director.

In 2018, Nick and Tiffany felt God’s call to other vocations and passed the torch to Executive Director, Matt Harper. They continue to live in Rock Hill, SC with their four children, Kai, Finn, Henley, and Haven, who all attend camp every summer. Nick supports staff training and is a frequent guest speaker during summer camp. He is actively pursuing seminary work and ordination.
